Out with the ‘blue’ and in with the ‘brew’

At Sarah's Coffee Shop, we believe in turning "Blue Monday" into something much warmer and inviting – Brew Monday.

In collaboration with Samaritans, we're encouraging everyone to embrace the power of conversation over a comforting cuppa.

Did you know the third Monday of January has often been labelled as the most depressing day of the year? With the holiday season behind us, bills arriving, gloomy weather and abandoned new year resolutions, it is easy to feel a bit low.

However, at Samaritans, they remind us there's no such thing as "Blue Monday." We all experience ups and downs – and our emotions can't be dictated by a date on the calendar.

So, we say it's time to stop this myth about Monday being 'blue' and instead start a conversation over a brew.

We could all do with a chat sometimes, whether it is just a simple catch up or to speak about how we’ve been feeling. And every conversation is made better with a drink – whether it’s a latte, a tea, juice or anything else you fancy. If you’re together and listening, you’re doing it right.

That’s why this year we are once again encouraging you to join us in scheduling in a catch up with a family member, friend or colleague.

Whether it's over the phone or in person at a coffee shop like ours, the act of connecting can make a big difference for both you and the person you're reaching out to.

Remember, any day can be a Brew Monday. It is about making conversations a regular part of your routine.

Evidence shows connecting with others is one of the key steps to improve your mental health and wellbeing. This is certainly no secret to us.

At our coffee shop, our welcoming environment is the perfect setting for meaningful conversations, laughter and support.

Remember, if you ever need urgent mental health support, Samaritans is just a call away at 116 123.

Together this Brew Monday, let's defy the January blues and focus on connection and conversation and together, we can make a positive impact on mental health and wellbeing.

See you at Sarah's Coffee Shop for a cuppa and a chat!
