At Sarah’s Coffee Shop, we love coffee (obviously!) and we have a wide range of coffees on our menu to choose from. But do you know what the difference is between them all or do you just stick to what you know? Let me tell you all about coffee!
Espresso
An espresso is a small shot of highly concentrated coffee. It can be served on its own or used as the foundation for other coffee drinks. At Sarah’s we serve it as a double expresso (to really give you the pick up you need) and this also forms the base for all of our coffees.
Americano
An Americano is similar to a coffee that you would have at home, in that it is a double shot of espresso diluted in hot water. An Americano is just better quality as it is made with our freshly ground beans.
Latte
A latte is the most popular type of coffee and is made up of a double shot of espresso and texture milk. Due to the large volume of milk in comparison to the amount of coffee, this is not a strong coffee and the milk reduces the bitterness. If you have a sweet tooth, you can add flavoured syrups to your latte, such as vanilla, honeycomb or our favourite, caramel!
Cappuccino
A cappuccino is similar to a latte but the milk is more frothy rather than just textured. This gives the perception of the coffee being stronger (although still the base is a standard double shot) as the actual amount of milk is about half that in a latte. We serve it with a little sprinkle of chocolate powder on top too!
Flat White
A flat white is very similar to a latte just with a bit less milk. This makes the coffee seem stronger but still has a lovely silky texture.
Mocha
The mocha is a mix between hot chocolate and a latte. It is made with a double shot of espresso and then textured milk. We also add chocolate syrup to give it that cheeky chocolate flavour and light dusting of chocolate powder to top it off!
Iced Coffee
This is a very popular drink at Sarah’s Coffee Shop in the summer. An iced coffee is a cold latte, so a double shot of espresso and milk over ice. It’s as simple as that! Again, much like a latte, flavoured syrups can be added to these for that extra flavour. We can’t wait for the sunshine as the iced latte is perfect to cool you down!
Frappuccino
A Frappuccino is also a cold coffee, but the ice is blended with the milk and coffee. They are frequently flavoured and topped with whipped cream and a syrup. This is the perfect coffee to indulge in on a hot summer’s day!
Don’t forget, any of our coffees can be made with alternative milk. We have oat, soya, coconut and almond milk available at all times if you prefer.
If you want to know more about your coffee or you would like us to recommend a coffee best suited to you, then pop into Sarah’s Coffee Shop and ask – we would be more than happy to help!
